42-North Content Guidelines
42-North is an organization
dedicated to creative expression and www.42north.org is a domain dedicated
to supporting those ideals. While we like to keep an open mind about
how our members express their creativity, the FCC and the internet community
have their own ideas about what is proper material for website content.
Please try to keep those limitations in mind when designing content for
your pages.
Member Page Links
42-North takes a cooperative
approach to the main link page. Member sites will be listed on the
42 North: Main Link Page only at
the request of the member. Members are encouraged to put a link back
to the 42 North: Main Link Page somewhere
on their site. The prefered method is to include the following link
image (usually at the bottom of the page).
Legal Mumbo-Jumbo
Members are solely responsible
for everything contained in their own web sites. 42-North does not
verify, endorse or otherwise vouch for the contents of any web site. Members
can be held legally liable for the contents of their web sites, and may
be held legally accountable if their web sites include, for example, material
protected by copyright, trademark, patent or trade secret law without the
permission of the author or owner or defamatory comments.
The member agrees to indemnify
and hold harmless 42-North for any loss, liability, claim, damage, and
expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from or in connection
with the contents of the member's web site, or use of the member's 42-North
e-mail account.
In the event that the 42-North
Webmaster receives a complaint that the contents of a web site
infringe intellectual property rights or otherwise is unlawful, the 42-North
Webmaster shall request written substantiation of the complaint
from the complaining party, for example, substantiation of proof of ownership
in the form of a trademark,
service mark, patent or copyright registration and will take such steps
that it believes to be appropriate under the circumstances, including,
for example:
-
Suspend the site, or a portion
of the site, immediately until the dispute is resolved;
-
Provide the member with contact
information for the complaining party;
-
Instruct the member to contact
the complaining party to resolve the dispute;
-
Inform the complaining party
of our actions and ask that party to work directly with the member;
-
Note: All correspondence between
the parties must also be sent to the 42-North
Webmaster.
